So..this was my PRICEY inspiration!
A beautiful beverage cart from Pottery Barn!
It took me a couple months, but I finally see something with potential! The ad read: Old carpenter's bench, solid, needs TLC $20!
Well I've got a whole lot of TLC for $20 bucks!! I have to admit, hubby was a wee bit skeptical picking this thing up, but he is use to the way my head works. When he brought it home he said, "work your magic!" Ha ha! So it began!
The first thing I did was rip off that old laminate top. Then I pulled out a bunch of staples, random nails, and erased a ton of math. (This bench was loved!) Then I "decootified!" Okay, maybe it's not a word, but it was filled with dust, grime, and cobwebs and I scoured that baby clean!
Next, I sanded! Then I sanded some more...and some more....and well you get the picture! Wear a mask! Don't want to be breathing it the "cootie" particles!
When I was finally satisfied with the grain of the wood, I wiped it down with a damp cloth. I started to SEE it! I knew this was going to be GREAT!!
I stained it using minwax Polyshades in dark walnut.
It took me about 3 coats.
Once dried, I added the wheels! I found these ones with a nice copper look to match the rustic feel!
I have sinced added a shelf below, and ordered a hand forged towel bar. Also got a cool antique bottle opener!
Will take new pics soon!!
Wanted to mention that my AWESOME mother-in-law gave me that GORGEOUS antique copper pot! It is GLORIOUS!! It works great as a big beer bucket! ; )
