Wind chime...

Bird Feeder

My daughter Nora is the ultimate trooper. She totally indulges my creativity year, after year, after year each Halloween! This past Halloween was no exception! Considering she is borderline tween I was a wee bit surprized when she took the bait! When I offered up something totally unusual! POPCORN!! good ol' buttered popcorn! She was in! Okay.... GREAT....now...

How do I make a box of popcorn costume?

So it began.......More pics and details of costume

COMING SOON!!! Check back!!

Nora and I LOVE to recycle!! We actually have a big box of saved items for future projects, that way when one of those RAINY DAYS hit, we are good to go!

<This whimsical DIY wind chime was made with:

  • large coffee tin
  • smaller coffe tin
  • small green chiles can
  • 3 small washers
  • 4 bolts of mixed sizes
  • twine
  • sunny yellow spray paint
  • paint markers
  • acrylic spray sealer in satin
  • tool to punch hole in cans

We sprayed the cans with sunny yellow spray paint and let them dry. Nora added her wonderful imagination and creativity to come up with a beautiful whimsical design!

I started by punching a hole in the tops of the cans. I used a bradawl tool. Then starting with the smaller can and working my way up,  I started stringing some twine through the hole. I left a lot of extra twine at the bottom and top of the first can I started with, then added knots below each washers underneath, and a bolt and knot above each can. I wrapped a big washer at the bottom (as a dangle) to give it a little clanky noise ; )

Just play with the height and adjust in between each can till the size and look of the windchime suits you!

 BIRD FEEDER

< This bird feeder is so easy and cute! We used a empty washed out juice container from our recycle bin.

( I cut the hole opening with a serrated knife PLEASE BE CAREFUL)

I sprayed the juice jug with the same yellow spray paint I had left over from wind chime craft! Nora once again worked her magic with paint markers!!

Spray a couple layers of clear acrylic to keep it looking like new year after year!!

There is no right or wrong when crafting with kids!! Let there imagination lead the way!!

PRAISE them for their efforts!!

Make memories!!
