COLOR me ORANGE!!
I bought this cute lamp for the piano. I really liked the base, but wasn't thrilled with the shade. Sometimes the price of an item is what sells me on NOT exactly perfect! I figured I could always do something to spice it up. My plan was to find a new shade, but while reading House Beautiful, I saw a bright orange patterned shade, and I realized that while I wait to find the perfect shade why don't I paint the one I have! As you can see (pic to left) the shade has a cool almost figure eight like patterns.
I mixed some acrylic paint I had. I mixed an Autumn Orange and Napathol Red to get a darker brighter reddish orange. The acrylic paint is fine because I will not be washing this lamp shade : ) usually I would used fabric craft paint, but I went with good old Folk Art craft paint!
I just followed the pattern best I could. I wasn't looking for perfect, just good enough without smudging!
I am going to add a matching shade of ribbon, or other funky trim!!
